The responsibility lies with you to halt them during their dash and make them leap. Watch out, creatures lurk everywhere, and they may consume you. Yet, have no fear; you must stomp the creature to defeat it. leap and stomp. If you fail to gather the gold and the chest, the entrance will remain shut, but remember.
